Why did you want to become a model?
Initially, it wasn't my idea to become a model. A friend had a few years of modeling under her belt and she recommended that I meet with her agent about modeling. After her agent gave me some encouraging advice, I started to take the idea more seriously. During my first shoot I felt amazing and on top of the world, and I realized that I really wanted to pursue this.
What is your favorite part about being a model?
I love being able to use the natural gifts I was given to convey all sorts of emotions and ideas. The human body really is a beautiful thing that should be treated like artwork, and I feel like an artist when I model.
What types of assignments are you attracted most?
I honestly love doing everything. I had a lot of fun at my last catalog shoot, but higher fashion shoots allow me to be really creative and personalize the shot.
What was the hardest challenge for you?
Being enrolled as a full-time college student in Philadelphia presented a lot of issues, particularly when looking for professional agency representation. Most modeling work on the east coast is done in New York, but I travel when I need to and make the best of the situation. I finally was approached by ORB Model Management and they were so impressed with my work that my location didn't really matter, so it worked out in the end.
What would bring a smile to your face?
Being offered a spread in GQ would probably put a permanent smile on my face.
What sort of tips or advice would you give somebody who is looking to modeling?
As tough as it can get in the industry, don't let anyone put you down. There will be plenty of doors slammed in your face, but eventually they all lead to that door that is wide open waiting for you to cross through.
